Who supports the E-rate?
Americans Support the E-Rate
Two EdLiNC surveys shows that Americans support the E-Rate.
Major Findings from EdLiNC 1999 Survey:
- 87 percent of Americans support providing discounts to needy
schools and libraries.
- 83 percent of Americans think that Internet access in schools
and libraries will improve education opportunities for all
Americans.
- 87 percent of Americans support continuing discounts to
schools and libraries.
The poll was conducted in the spring of 1999 by
Lake, Snell, Perry and Associates, and the Tarrance Group. One
thousand U.S. households were surveyed.
Major Findings from E-Rate Hotline/EdLiNC 1998 Survey:
- 93 percent of schools and libraries in rural and low-income
areas were aware of the E-Rate.
- 84 percent of respondents said they intended to take advantage
of the E-Rate.
- 73 percent of respondents said the E-Rate would increase the
use of technology.
- 57 percent of respondents said the E-Rate will allow them to
purchase new services.
The survey was conducted in the spring of 1998.
The E-Rate Hotline, a project of The Education and Libraries
Networks Coalition (EdLiNC), surveyed 165 schools and libraries in
14 states.
